master scheduling - planned orders not getting created for migrated items

Hi,

Items are migrated from legacy systems and sales orders are created.

When master scheduling is run, no planned orders are generated.

To check if this problem is because of migrated items, couple of items are created manually in released products.

Now when master scheduling is run, planned orders are getting generated for manually created items.

I compared the table info for both migrated and manually created items in Inventtable, BOM but there is no difference in the table info.

what could be missing?

Also is there a cookbook or any that will give guidelines and help in running master scheduling?

Thanks,

Lakshmi

    Things I would check:

1.) What is the Coverage code on the coverage group / item coverage for the migrated items?  Make sure it is not manual.

2.) Is the migrated item dropping requirements on a warehouse that is flagged as "Manual"?  Check Site specific order settings and look at the settings on the associated warehouse.

3.) Check table ReqItemLevel in the AOT.   This table is frequently overlooked / incorrect when doing data migrations.  This table stores the BOM level of an item.  An end item should have level 0, a component to that should be level 1, etc.  Master planning exploded requirements at level 0 first, then level 1 etc.  If your bom level is incorrect, master planning will be incorrect.  If your BOM level is missing, your item wont get exploded.  You need a record in this table for all items.  If you see an incorrect BOM level for your item, or do not find your item, delete all rows from this table.  It will get re-generated next time you run master scheduling in mass.

Also from the sales line check the details of the inventory transaction, first is there one, second what is the status and quantit

Colby has you checkign the item and warehouse, lets assume they are correct because you would manually replicate the settings, so you either have relational table issues - so item coverage, default order settings etc. Or your sales orders are not actually creating demand anywhere. Can you pick a migated sales order after manually putting stock in?

BOMlevel did not get right BOM level values because of improper Production type (inventtable\pmfproducttype) data. once its corrected, BOM levels are recalculatedfrom InventoryManagement\periodic\billofmaterials.
