Hi,

I want to hide all out of box all security roles. Because I have created custom security roles and i want to use those custom security roles.

Please suggest how to achieve above task in to MS-CRM 2013.

Thanks & Regards

Abhishek Srivastava

    Hi Abhishek,

There is no way to hide the OOB Security Roles.

You have the option to delete them, but I won't suggest that.

    Hope that helps

    Thanks

Go to All Roles view(Default view you see on Security Role) and save as.

On Your role view, specify a criteria which only lets you see your roles- naming filter can be key here

For eg. Orgname Salesperson role is custom salesperson role, you can put a filter like name contains orgname and do naming accordingly.

Set this as your default view. Whenever you will navigate to security roles now, you will see your custom roles.

This is the closest you can get to hiding your roles.

    Hi Abhishek,

Instead of hiding OOB security roles, and creating new custom security roles, why you are not using existing roles except System administrator, System Customizer, you just need to rename those existing roles and update permission as per your requirement.

As a recommendation, out of box ones are always kept for reference.

Otherwise, we need to have a vanilla organisation for point of reference. Let me know if there is other approach which sounds better for having a point of reference for out of box security roles.

    Hi Deepesh,

    Thanks for reply.

But I am not able to create new view or save as existing one. Because Security Role entity not provided to create new Public view and same as bind with new one if i am creating from Advanced Find.

    With Regards,

    Abhishek

Yes, I agree that the option on security role are limited.

I had done this workaround on teams earlier and expected it to be same on Security Roles.

Unfortunately it is not the case. Thanks for letting us know.

    Hi Abhishek,

Security Roles entity won't let you create a new Public View, nor you can Edit existing, neither you can Save As existing views.

There is no supported way you can hide OOB security roles. Do not delete them as you may need them in future for point of reference, also create new roles by copying them which will decrease some of your effort later.

    Thanks

I did this which should help you(Use sitemap editor in Xrmtoolbox):

Create a direct sitemap link to Security Roles area and than I am able to default personal view as my default view. Refer screen below:
