printer opos driver not found for Epson TM-T88IV Windows 7

We recently purchased a new HP Pavilion Slimline with Windows 7 (64 bit?) and have transferred our Microsoft Dynamics RMS & all our hardware to the new computer...except we cannot get the receipt printer to work.

We constantly receive the error message that the OPOS driver is not found.

I am really not familiar with understanding printer drivers etc so have likely made the situation worse as opposed to better :)

The printer is appearing as an installed printer etc, just does not work.

I tried copying the old OPOS driver files over from the previous computer & that did not work. I have tried downloading several different drivers none of which have worked & tried to run the installation set-up for the printer as well as assigning ports (though as I said really don't know what I am doing so have probably made it worse!).

We have tried using a parallel to usb cable & the current set up, if you can imagine, is from the old computer which goes parallel to ethernet to serial to which we added serial to usb cable & now at least the computer recgonizes that the printer is there...though it still will not print & still gives the OPOS driver not found error.

Tech support was unable to resolve & I have been unable to reach our microsoft partner to help

Anyone know specifically how to set up, install & configure this printer to work with Windows 7?

RE: printer opos driver not found for Epson TM-T88IV Windows 7

    Hi Ed

Just installing epson TM-T88iv on win7 64bit pro with RMS 2.x - should I still use this older opos driver ie: version 2.66?

    Thanks

Try an older version of the opos driver.  The newer versions with CCO 1.13 or above do not work with RMS.

I always suggest 2.66 unless you absolutely need newer features.  Which there really isn't any newer features for opos printers.

step 1 is visit Epson Expert web site and register to get a username and password.

step 2 is to login to the site.

step 3 is to click on the development tab and select OPOS drivers

step 4 is to download the driver utility which you use to configure the printer and cash drawer as I speculate you have one. perhaps 2.68 e may work?

step 5 is to follow these directions:  support.microsoft.com/.../836447

step 6 is to ensure the printer has a logical device name for example PRINTER1

step 7 is to ensure the printer passes check health per the kb. if not call Epson per the kb

step 8 make sure in RMS printer properties the device name is "exactly" the same as the one you previously gave it while setting up within the opos utility.

Unless your printing on a full page printer I'd recommend staying away from Windows drivers.

I'd also recommend not using the newest drivers.

If it doesn't pass check health you may have bad cable, hardware or configuration talk with Epson before moving on to RMS configuration.***  If you used a factory supplied disk to install this printer uninstall it before doing any of the steps listed above please.*** I'm unsure if adapters are even supported you may want to invest in a expansion card that matches your printers cable.

    One last thing...

Store Operations Manager/File/Configuration/Options/POS Options Folder/share opos printer with other applications should be check marked.

    You should be golden.

I forgot to mention if you are using the OPOS driver package, don't forget to make sure the Epson OPOS printers device name is the same name used in the RMS Manager registers printer OPOS settings.

I had a similar issue when setting up that printer this week. First, I had to go into the printers properties and make sure the printer was using the correct port. Then, go into the RMS Manager and make sure your registers printer has the Windows driver box ticked instead of the OPOS driver option.

Did you change your register settings for the receipt printer?

ok...well, I completely uninstalled everything, removed all the old drivers etc & reinstalled the printer with the windows driver from above...but it still will not work. The test print page does not work & when I try to print a receipt from the POS I get "run-time error '380': Invalid Property Value

    ??

You realize that you do not have to use the OPOS driver, right?  A Windows driver works just fine.  All OPOS does is control the cash drawer a little better.

Download the Windows drivers here; https://download.epson-biz.com/modules/pos/index.php?page=prod&pcat=3&pid=30  If you decide to use the OPOS drivers, there is a link on the page.
