CU11 Update Installer did not update Kernel and Application to latest version

Hello I am trying to update an environment to AX2012 R3 CU11 using the update installer. The update installer completed successfully and the application version was updated to version 6.3.4000.123 but the Kernel remains at 6.3.164.0. I tried running the update installer again but it stated that the environment was update to date. How can I update the Kernel as well as update the Application Version Model Number to version 6.3.4000.123. Thanks in advance.

    Where are you looking to see that the Kernel version remains at 6.3.1.64.0?

    This was based on the versions listed in help..about Microsoft Dynamics AX from the client.

    You should navigate to the folder that holds Ax32.exe, typically in C:\Program files (x86)\Microsoft Dynamics AX\60\Client\Bin, and check the properties of the executable file. In the Details tab, there is the file version.

    If that is indeed not updated to where you are running the AX client from, it needs to be patched up by a kernel binary hotfix. That can be higher than the application version (need to match major version number only), see them here:

    Fetch the latest kernel from there and try to patch up all AX components.

    Hi,

    The 'About' in the client shows the kernel version of the Client. To see the kernel version of the AOS, you need to browse to C:\Program Files\Microsoft Dynamics AX\60\Server\AOSNAME\bin and look at the properties of the AX32Serv.exe file.

    The client (if it lives on a different box) should also be upgraded.

    You have tried simply to restart the server?

    Sometime the components are locked during the update because in use.

    Thank you for the help. I downloaded and installed the latest Kernel hotfix from the link above but the Ax32.exe was not updated. I noticed that when  I installed the hotfix that only the payroll components were selected ( all others were greyed out) Any additional suggestions would be greatly apprechiated.

    If you are using Remote Desktop Services, Citrix, or any other terminal servers to run the client, it needs to be patched up on those servers. Check if you have a running Ax32.exe process in the Task manager under your user name, where you think it might be executing. If not, then AX client is running elsewhere (i.e. the mentioned terminal server), in which case you need to install the hotfix there.

    This is a single server setup where the AX Server and client are installed. I assume that I am running into the same issue that the CU11 installer encountered. I tried running the update as administrator as well
