Hi

We all know the problem represented to migrate data from AX2009 AX2012 like Vendors, Customers, Accounts Ledger, Trial Balance, etc.

My question is this: If the customer wants today migrate from AX2012 to AX7, should do the same '? Or it is a "natural" migration as it was to migrate from Axapta 3 to AX4,,or  AX4 to Ax2009?

thanks for help.

From AX2012 to AX7 upgrade, it’s a full process which you need to follow. It involves many steps from taking your existing model store and uploading it to LCS and following may steps later until you reach and fix everything in upgraded solution. You can find all details in next URL

Read it, go through it, if you got a specific question, you can refer back on this thread.

At present data upgrade is not supposed, which Microsoft is considering to introduce in near future. So, as of today if you want to upgrade you have choice to upgrade code only

    Thanks for your answer.

How about the Migration from AX2009 to AX7? During the official Launch Event, Microsoft talked about a data Migration tool especially from AX2009 to AX7. Where can I get more Information about it?

Yet, No tool has been launched by Microsoft for data upgrade. Yes, you are right that Microsoft is more focused for tool to upgrade data from AX2009 TO AX2012. Because upgrading from AX2012 data to AX7, will not be very hard, as much of data structure is matching between AX2012 and AX7. For case of AX2009 to AX7, it’s a huge change of data structure.

    Hello Sohaib,

    thanks for your quick reply.

During the AX virtual launch event the following Q&A was given by Microsoft about this topic:

Q: Which previous versions of AX are possible to upgrade to the new AX?

A: We will release a data migration solution for AX2009 -> AX7 in the fall. This is data migration only and not a code upgrade. AX2012 upgrade is not slated for this year and will come in the future. We are first focused on AX2009 data migration. We feel that AX2012 customers have invested in their solutions recently and will not push for upgrades in the near term

    (see axblog.de/dynamics-ax-virtual-launch-event-was-gab-es-zu-sehen)

So Microsoft really seems to Focus on this topic and is going to help AX2009 customers.
