Generating inspection orders in AX2012 R2

Hello everybody,

I'm trying to figure out how the "generate inspection orders" function is working in ax2012. The scenario in which I like to use it is the following:

We do have items, like for example art.no.66000000, with batch-settings as the below screenshot is showing.

 2018_2D00_06_2D00_23-16_5F00_57_5F00_52_2D002A20_Tracking-dimension-groups_2C20_-_28000E202A20_1_2C2029000E20_-_2800_TS_2D00_Broker.Renfert.local_2900_.png

This item is having limited shelf live, so we’ve setup the required shelf life data. As you can see, batch ‘010383’ is expired by now (we have 299kg on-hand)

Also, we’ve setup the necessary quality association incl. testgroup and tests.

In my understanding, this should be everything needed to run the generate inspection orders job (especially since I left out any filter).

…but the result is … nothing… not even an infolog. Once the job is started, absolutely nothing happens.

Can anybody help me with that? Did I miss to setup something?

Unfortunately, Microsoft documentation is lacking any hint of how to use or setup that function.

Help is appreciated!

Thanks in advance

    Hi SHerz,

What tracking dimensions are activated in your sampling setup? Do you have batch enabled? Have a look on this post there is a walkthrough how to use this periodic operation (it is for D365FO but setup still should be applicable for AX2012): cleverax.wordpress.com/.../d365fo-generate-inspection-orders

    Hi NataliiaS,

unfortunately, yes :) Batch number is enabled, as you may see in the screenshot below.

I saw the blog post you've mentioned earlier - the settings are still the same and I guess it should work the same way, too.

However, it's not working yet. :(

    Any other ideas?

Thanks for your input to post a new and more detailed question - here we go :)

Now as you got more details, do you have any idea?

    Thanks in advance :)

Hmmm looks like you have all setup in place. Unfortunately I do not have AX2012, but I tried to setup your case in D365FO and it worked. One more question on this: when you ran this periodic did you change filter criteria? By default system set is it to Manufacturing date as on today (date when you run), therefore if you run it with defaults your batch won't be picked up. Therefore if it is your case - you should set Manufacturing date to blank.

Well, I've seen that as well - so I've set all criteria to blank. Still nothing happens.

    :(

I've tried to run it as batch job.

That also failed but gave me a hint of what might cause the issue.

    2018_2D00_06_2D00_25-10_5F00_37_5F00_38_2D002A20_Batch-job_2C20_-_28000E202A20_1_2C2029000E202A20_-_2D00_-_0E202A202A202A20_Job-description_2C205F00_-_0E202A20_Generate-inspection-orders_2C202C202C00_-_0E202A202A20_.png

Is anybody having a clue what might cause the exception?

SHerz set your item sampling to be per location as well:

If you have a multiple AOS environment you may have code out of synch, I would do a full compile on one operating AOS and then bring any others up.

Okay - I’ll try that and let you know what happens.

    Hi Colby,

thanks for your reply – is it possible that you are using R3 instead of R2?

Your screenshot distinguishes from mine in one point: I don’t have “inventory status” available.

Despite that, setting “location” also doesn’t bring any difference.

This is driving me insane :)
