Multiple security roles not working properly

Hi Folks,

In my Online MS CRM we have 20 security roles and most of the user have multiple roles assigned to them .

In one custom entity I want to give only read access to all while system admin can have all persmission .

But some user reported that they cant see that Custom entity they are seeing (****).

Can I know what might be the issue ?

Also do multiple roles works as union of access roles(create , write, delete) or intersection of roles.

Kindly suggest.

    Hi,

if you assign multile security roles, then CRM will take what is the highest security role and based on that user can access Entities.

And you mentioned that they are seeing ***, Is this for Fields? because, if you don't have read permission then you can't see. if this is for fields, then check field security once.

    Hope this helps you.

If you wanted to find out user permissions (in regards to a particular record), you might do it using XrmToolBox:

    github.com/.../Access-Checker

There is no "highest security role" - there is a combination of permissions (from the roles, from the sharing, from the hirerarchy security, team membership, etc)

Anyway, as Shivaram mentioned (and you just found out) - if you see "****", it's all about field security

You told System Administrator. He is having all roles. After that System Customizer will have roles. Other than those, we have 13 other security roles related to Sales, Marketing and Service. Like manager and normal Users.

Apart from this, if you are providing proper security roles for users(other than Sys Admin), then they can able to Read/Write/Update(based on what you provided).
