Re-sync tracked contact deleted from Outlook

A user deleted a few contacts from his Outlook client, which were previously created in Dynamics and synced to his Outlook client via server-side sync. How can I re-sync the deleted contacts from Dynamics to Outlook?

I found a few articles in this community suggesting to disable sync filters, however that's not possible since we are using system-level filter and disabling / deleting those filters will impact the whole organization.

I have the same question (0)

    Hello Kiril,

So if you were to look at these contacts on the backend they would say Deleted In Exchange = "true"

As long as these contacts still reside in Dynamics and they meet the sync filter criteria for the user in question. If you run another test and enable of the user's mailbox, these records should be re-stamped and should track back down to the user's Outlook.

    Thanks,

    Tyson

Thank you - understood! Two more follow-up questions.

Where exactly can I see or even edit the "Deleted" property in Exchange?

Are there any side effects of running another test on the mailbox?

    Hello Kiril,

Let me see if there is a way to locate that in Exchange. Perhaps using a tool such as ewseditor. Server traces on Microsoft side would show the isDeletedInExchange = True

As for the side effects of running another test and enable. No there should be no side effects. Simply running this should re sync the contacts that still reside in Dynamics as far as the personal synchronization filters meet the criteria. You can view these filters by logging into Dynamics > click the gears icon in the upper right hand corner of dynamics > click options > click synchronization tab > click filters > and view the users contact filter settings criteria

Thank you, I'll try the ewseditor.

About "test and enable": this does also resync emails and appointments right? This is what I'm more worried about... To get some kind of strange side effects

    Hello Kiril,

On test and enable. Emails will be attempted to be reprocessed based upon the process email from date on the email server profile. SSS won't duplicate any emails or resync any that were deleted in the past. However, what you can do is navigate to settings > email configuration > open up the email server profile > expand the advanced tab and change the process email from date to today's date. Then when you run a test and enable it will only try to poll the mailbox for emails back to the date set here. (*note this won't affect any other mailbox. It just set's the date and acknowledges it when test and enable is hit)

For appointments. You can login to Dynamics 365 with the user account. Click the gears icon in the upper right corner > click options > click synchronization tab > click filters and for the appointments filter you can adjust the date here as well to only pull in a date range when test and enable is selected.

    Thanks,

    Tyson
