BC SaaS - Restoring Production from previous minor version

Hi All

I know how to use restore function so you can pick any date/time within the last 28 days. However once a major or minor upgrade happens you only have restore timeframe with the current version. Like today where the environment is upgraded to 9.2 I can only select 1/15/2022 as the date. Is there any other option available to restore from a previous version or do we have to contact MS. We are looking at 4 upgrades a year and it might be the case that when we want to restore, an upgrade is already run and 28 window is useless

I have the same question (0)

    Hi,

I think the most reliable way to restore to a previous version is to submit a ServiceRequest to Microsoft and ask for it.

Another option that comes to mind is to keep a copy of your Production environment in Sandbox as a backup before upgrading.
2021ReleaseWave2 extends the environment copy functionality to allow you to copy from Sandbox to Production.

    I hope this helps you.

What do you mean by you are looking at 4 upgrades a year?

Running Business Central SaasS means you will get a monthly update. 2 major (april/october) and the other months will be minor upgrades.

So you will not have the option to chose to only upgrade 4 times a year. The only way you can achieve that is by running Business Central on-prem. You can postpone upgrades in BC SaaS for a while but eventually you will be upgraded.

    Update policy is described here:

    docs.microsoft.com/.../update-rollout-timeline

The backup / restore process is documented here:

    docs.microsoft.com/.../tenant-admin-center-backup-restore

And in that documentation it states that you can only reastore to the same major/minor version.

Hi, Can the manual export feature help you?

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/business-central/dev-itpro/administration/tenant-admin-center-database-export

    Thanks

Thanks for the replies.. Has anyone used the manual export, and imported a backup of a previous version? I believe this will not work and only option is to contact MS
