We're using constraint-based configuration models in AX 2012 and I don't understand the whole Versions concept. I'd like to be able to create a new configuration model for a product and put it into production on a specified date, but that doesn't seem to be how the Versions work. Is that function possible? What are the Versions for?
Also, I've seen reference to setting up costing on configured products but that option doesn't appear in the Set up group on our configuration models. Is that an AX version issue, or a configuration change?
Thanks-

I have the same question (0)Hi, the versions concept is similar to that of BOM versions. A version represents a relation between a product configuration model and a product master. A product model version must be approved and activated before it can be used for configuring a product variant on e.g. a sales quote or sales order line.
For each product model version it is possible to specify if the sales price shall be calculated from cost setup or an attribute based price model.
Thanks,
