I have company interested in migrating to GP - they have 40+ companies.

My questions are:

1/ Can GP support 40+ companies with intercompany accounts.

2/ Can management reporter consolidate across this many companies.

Thanks

To answer your first question yes GP can support your 40+ companies with intercompany accounts (Open the Intercompany Setup window (Microsoft Dynamics GP menu >> Tools >> Setup >> System >> Intercompany). The critical issue is in the initial GP Setup and Data Conversion to create the correct Account Framework and Setup in GP. We first tried setting up GP and importing data from our 79 source companies (35 in QuickBooks, 11 in NetSuite, 2 in Sage 100, 5 in Accpac, 14 in MAS90, and 12 in Dynamics SL) but this proved to be far too complicated a task. Microsoft referred us to Conversion Services, a certified GP Partner who is an ISV that developed a robust Dynamics GP Data Conversion Tool and provides for a full GP Transaction History data conversions from most all other ERP systems. They can be reached at (www.conversionservicescorp.com/.../convert-to-dynamicsgp.htm) or at 1-888-989-6808.  They also included another Microsoft ISV in our Dynamics GP Data Conversion Project from Vancouver Canada who developed the Binary Stream Multi-Entity Management software. We did try using Management Reporter which provides the flexibility of consolidating financial data across one or multiple organizations in one single report so yes that will work as well. For converting 40+ companies to Dynamics GP I would highly recommend Conversion Services and possibly using MEM, they're extensive experience and custom data conversion tools made all the difference in our conversion to GP. Good luck on your project.

Another think that you may want to consider if you are looking at using Binary Stream MEM is the company Year ends and Functional currencies.  MEM works well if they are the same across the companies however if they are different and you want to use MEM, you should either look at Binary Stream Bridge or grouping the companies together by functional currency and year end.  Otherwise Roger is correct, GP can handle 40+ interco relations.  Another thing that i have found that works over the years  when consolidating multiple entities is to create an additional Elimco Company to deal with monthly, quarter-end and year end elimination entries you may require.  Hope this helps,
