In the deskot app, whenever I try to Upload 3D models, I get an error message saying "Upload failed".

I've tried all the 3D supported formats and still nothing.

I'm using the trial version.

Any help?

Best Regards,

I have the same question (0)

    Hi LMarMar,

In addition to format issues there may be connection issues or permission issues and so on,

You can follow these steps to test:

    • upload successfully as an admin rather than an author
    • upload images (e.g., JPG, PNG, etc.)
    • Try to see if the smaller model can be uploaded successfully.
    • Try to see if the simpler model can be uploaded successfully.
    • Do any of the models have dependencies (For example, some glTF files might have dependencies in other folders.). If so, ensure Guides has access all dependencies.

As for the format, I prefer the .glb format

In addition to the above you can also use this to help you solve the problem:

    RE: Can´t upload 3D MODELS.

    Hi LMarMar,

I would try a few quick things and then jump straight to a support ticket.

First, if your models are larger than ~128MB, review Optimize your 3D models to use with Dynamics 365 Guides and Power Apps and look for ways to reduce your model size.

Next, if your models have assets stored outside of the file, make sure the Guides PC app can access all of those files when uploading.

Another possibility: this could be a permission issue caused by incorrect security roles. I would not expect this problem if you're using the same user account that created the trial. But if your company created secondary accounts for the same trial environment, then make sure your account has the appropriate security roles. See About the Author and Operator user roles in Dynamics 365 Guides - Dynamics 365 Mixed Reality | Microsoft Learn

If none of these quickly unblock you, jump right to a support ticket.

    • As Haig Liu responded, proactively submit a repro (learn.microsoft.com/.../submit-feedback) and make a note of the title you used.
    • Then go to https://aka.ms/PPAC and log into the site with the same account you used to sign up for the trial.
    • Look for Help+Support on the left side and follow the prompts.
    • Let CSS know you have submitted a repro. There will be no charge for this support.

Let me know if you have any troubles opening the ticket.
