AX2012 R3 - Last Kernel update

Hello everybody,

We have an AX 2012 R3 CU12 platform with the configuration below:
Kernel version : 6.3.5000.4812
Application version : 6.3.5000.133

In order to move this platform on new Windows Server 2016 VMs, we will have to install the 2 binaries KB KB4010490, KB3217883 as recommended by Microsoft.

We would like to install the last recent kernel build 6.3.6000.8144 28 Feb 2019.

Can someone confirm to us that this latest kernel includes 2 KB mentionned and that this kernel update can be done without upgrading the application version?

Thank you in advance.

Cyrille

Based on the LCS, these 2 KBs are binary update which released in 2017.

    Details for issue 3798703 (dynamics.com)

    Details for issue 3799733 (dynamics.com)

So the latest kernel update should include both these 2 KBs.

    Hello Ludwig,

    Thanks for your answer.

I read the document but I didn't find the answser. I would like to know if we can install the last kernel update without upgrading the application version (in AX2012 R3 CU12).

I read an old post which mentionned that it was possible but I don't know if it's always true :

    cloudblogs.microsoft.com/.../

    (Question 8)

Do you have any advice for this?

    Thanks,

    Cyrille

You can make a binary upgrade without application update, that is possible. I didn't read the KB article, but I think you need to make a binary upgrade to CU13 and them apply that KB.
