How do I stop the cashier from changing the receipt amount value after the receipt is already printed?

For example, cashier collects $10 from the customer and applies it to customer outstanding invoice. Then prints the receipt and give to the customer. Later it occurred to cashier that it was actually $10.40 she actually collected from customer and also that’s what’s was needed to fully settle customer invoice. Now, given that the senior account has not yet posted the journal batch as yet, the cashier can easily go back on the receipt line and enter the 40 cents. Of course, if she reprints the receipt it will give her a copy printout but she doesn’t need to reprint because the customer already gone. How do I prevent the cashier from changing the value on the receipt after receipt is printed?

How does she prints the receipt & gives to the customer ? How are you recording the customer payments?

thanks for responding, After customer pays, cashier would go to AR-> Journals-Payment journal..... if there is an existing journal then cashier would add a line to record money recieved then print customer receipt. If there is no journal then cashier wpould create a journal and add the line to record payment.

Hi Lionel,

Have you customized this report? Which version of AX are you using ? Because in default you cannot print payments when the journal is unposted.

Hi Lionel,

You may have to change your process for this, as this can cause differences as you are referring right now. In default you can show the customer statement after the journal has been posted. That's the best way to do so. Otherwise you will have to work around a longer solution which may end up in development.

Good Morning Lionel07,

The report seems indeed being a customized one.

Can't you simply get this problem resolved by not allowing the cashier to go into the journal?

That is, if here is a change or difference, then the cashier has to ask and discuss with an accountant why a change would be necessary.

The accountant can then go in the journal and make the change if justified but not the cashier.

Would that process work for you?

If so then have a look at the standard journal control and posting restrictions that can be setup for the payment journal in the GL journal name form.

If you want to freeze journal lines , you can change payment status to Sent . once payment status is changed to sent no more modification can be done except posting . based on permission you can revert back by changing status to none.

but in this case if you want to do freeze the lines after first print then best option to do modification to change payment status once the receipt is print.

Thanks for this suggestion Amith, I though about this and now want to try and implement some code to achieve this. So the ides is once the receipt is printed, I would change the payment status to send(so that line now becomes read only). if there needs to me a modification then i would use someone with authority to free change back the status to none.

Can you atlease tell me what are the classes and method am to look at to implement this change. Or even the class that is fired when a reciept is printed?
