Slow print after posting

ReportReport

Greetings

I have some problems with printing some reports, at first it seemed like the user could not print the reports that appeared after they posted, but then we realized it sent the printing order several minutes later, more or less 15 to 30 minutes later.

I think the problem is that the server is in another country, but there seems to be no problem with the other reports so I was wondering if there could be a configuration problem that was slowing the printing process. Has anyone else had this problem?

 Thanks in advance

I'm not exactly sure but I will take a stab.  Is the report that you are printing a Modified report?  Because the reports that come with GP as standard reports are stored on the C:\ drive of the client.  You may have a modified report printing that is residing in the REPORTS.dic modified report dictionary.  Typically users will share a central REPORTS.dic.  This might be located on a file share that all users have access to.  Foe instane, mine is \\computername\GP\Reports.dic

If yours is located on the server in another country, you might want to copy the file locally periodically when you make changes so it loads from the C:\ drive instead of a file share.

    Just a hunch...

    Hi, thanks for the reply.

I forgot to tell you but in this implementation we didn't installed any client pcs, instead each user has a terminal session to enter the server and start gp in his session, so we can't have the file locally.

It is still worth checking that the client on the terminal server might be ponted at a file share.  I am trying to narrow down why some reports take forever to load and some don't.  Do you know if the ones that work are modified or not as well as the ones that are slow?

Can you give an example of a couple reports that are quick and a couple that are slow?  Let's try to figure out what they do and don't have in common.
