Trial version Project Operations

I have to train some people in Project Operations. It has been a while since I did that. So now I'm trying to get a trial version going, but I run into all kinds of problems.

Most of all, I can't see the model-driven app Project Operations.

What did I do: I went to https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics-365/free-trial and started the process.

In the end I got an email to start my trial, went through the questions to install a version.

I can see in admin.microsoft.com that a license is attached to my name.

I can see that in Power Platform admin center an environment is created by the process, but it has no Dataverse and no Dynamics 365 apps.

I create those, but still no Project Operations app.

What am I doing wrong here?
I have the same question (0)

Good morning, afternoon, or evening depending on your location!
It sounds like you're encountering a common issue with setting up the trial version of Project Operations. Here's a clear path to troubleshoot and resolve this:
    1. Verify License and Environment:
      • Confirm that the license for "Dynamics 365 Project Operations (CE) - Preview" is active. Based on the image details, your license is valid until 5/23/2025, so you're good there.
      • Ensure the environment created in the Power Platform admin center has Dataverse enabled. Without Dataverse, Dynamics 365 apps won't function properly.
    2. Install Dynamics 365 Apps:
      • In the Power Platform admin center, navigate to the environment and check if Dynamics 365 apps are installed. If not, install them manually by selecting "Add Dynamics 365 apps" in the environment settings.
    3. Assign Security Roles:
      • Ensure that the user has the appropriate security roles assigned to access the Project Operations model-driven app. Missing roles can prevent the app from appearing.
    4. Enable the Model-Driven App:
      • If the app still doesn't appear, check the app's visibility settings. Go to the app designer in the Power Platform admin center and ensure the app is published and accessible to your user role.
    5. Refresh and Check Access:
      • Refresh the Dynamics 365 home page or check the apps section in Office.com to see if the Project Operations app appears.

    Hope this helps!

How long did you wait? Normally you get a mail when the ProjOps environment is ready.

Sigh! I started the whole process again
    - got the email
    - clicked on get started
    - answered the question like do I need stocked materials support
    - so I started the Setup Project Operations for resource/non-stocked scenarios
    - got redirected to Admin Center and I could see that it was working on creating a environment

I waiting an eternity, and what do you think? Once it was done, I ended up with an empty environment. No dataverse, no Dynamics Apps.
