Management Reporter 2012 Upgrade - Existing DB

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hello

I did an upgrade to MR 2012 and created a new DB and am using the Data Mart.  The companies imported fine, so there is no issue there.  The old version of MR is still available, but I would like to "move" the existing report definitions (rows, columns, trees, catalogs) to the new MR database.  Is there any way to do this without recreating them?  I am using a different port for the 2012 installation, and a different database (ManagementReporter2012).

Thanks in advance,
Mark

You need to click on building blocks and export all your building blocks you want from your old MR.  Then do the same in the new MR but import the file you just created, this is the easiest way to do it.

I see as an option, the existing DB can be upgraded - Open the Configuration Console and in the lower left hand corner, select to upgrade the Management Reporter 2012 database.

However, is there a way to transfer reports from one database to another, if a new database is created during the installation (to preserve the existing installation)?
