Metrologic Optimus S programming

I'm looking for help setting up a Metrologic/Honeywell Optimus S data collection unit. (SP5500) I'm trying to get it to work like our old Worth Data Tricoder units did. When scanning items if you didn't enter a quantity it would assume the quantity was 1. Is there a way to make the Optimus S do that so I don't have to hit enter for 1 after every scan?

Any help is much appreciated.
