we have AX 2009 and SQL server 2017 recently installed . i'm wondering if it's possible to run AX 2009 on SQL 2017?
similar question was already in forum but not relevant reply or suggestion, appreciate if somebody had similar situation and resolved.
Hi Vikas
We are also very fond of our Dynamics AX 2009 in which we can quickly implement smart solution for the users
It currently supports all our business and does a great job.
We are running a SQL Server 2012 SP4 w the lastest security patch from January 2021 I believe it was.
We are just about to test running it on a SQL Server 2017 with 2012 compability mode.
Did you try it out yet and can you share your experience?
Hi Vikas,
Like mentioned by Gunjan, the system requirements guide is not listing compatibility with SQL server 2017. It might work with a database compatibility setting, but it is not supported and not tested by Microsoft.
Please check the system requirements for AX 2009 here. The maximum supported version of SQL is SQL Server 2012 with AX 2009 SP1 RU8 and hotfix from KB 2836535.
You won't be able to use SQL 2017.
