Item Allocation Issue for an Unposted PA Inv Transfer

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hi Folks

On GP 12.00.2084(R2) or 12.00.1745(R2) I have the same problem.   I have an unposted Project Accounting [PA] Inv Trf Entry and although the Item enquiry correctly states that it is Allocated, I cannot drill down to see the documents causing that allocation.    The Stock Status correctly reflects that it is allocated, but I need to be able to drill down onto it.

This is a serious issue for me and I'm hoping that there is a solution out there.   Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Would you know if this is a bug?

Thanks

    Hi

I agree with you and this might have been added on Connect already, may be someone from Microsoft can confirm whether this will be included on next release.

    Hi Babu

Thank you for your answer but I cannot understand how Microsoft would think that is good enough.   It would seem like it has functioned like this for many years now and I consider it a massive bug as you cannot use the PA Inv Trf function if you want to keep good control of your stock.   The serial number cannot be traced on the Serial/Lot trace screen if the PA Inv Trf batch is unposted.   Running the Inventory reconcile removes the allocation.    I was able to do a negative adj for my stock on hand even though I had unposted PA Inv Trf batches.   It is broken in so many ways and I just don't understand why Microsoft have not fixed it.

Would you have any idea if it has been written up as a bug and if they plan to correct it?

    Thank you for your time.

    Regards

    Hi,

There is no link between inventory allocation and project accounting so the allocation can not be seen when you drill down.

    Hi again

While the PA Inv Trf is unposted, the Serial/Lot Trace window cannot find the serial number.   Only after it has been posted and becomes an inventory adjustment, will that window find the serial number.    This is of huge concern as my client uses the Serial/Lot Trace window constantly and so we can't lose sight of the serial number for any length of time.

I'm really anxious for a solution so I'd be very grateful is someone has an explanation or perhaps a work-a-round.

    Thanks again.
