Hi ,

To test the email functionality in crm2015 I have created a shared mailbox, I have configured that 365email Id in crm mailbox configuration and set the server profile as microsoft exchange online, which was there in crm by default. but when tested the mailbox it is showing 'test in progress' for more than 2-4 hrs. Is there anything wrong I am doing.

Also can anyone help me out for creating a microsoft exchange online server trial and sync it with dynamics crm 2015 online version.

Please help me out.

Thanks,

Dilip

    Hello Dilip,

To configure CRM Online and Exchange Online you need to verify that you are in a supported email service configuration for server side synchronization.

Depending on your Microsoft Dynamics CRM installation, you may be deciding whether to use server-side synchronization or the Email Router/Outlook synchronization. This following table lists what is supported by server-side synchronization for each type of installation. Later in this topic, you can read about the scenarios that aren’t supported by server-side synchronization.

    Important

The information here represents the POP3/SMTP systems supported by Microsoft. Although other POP3/SMTP systems may work with Microsoft Dynamics CRM, those systems were not tested by Microsoft and are not supported.

Using Exchange Online with CRM Online

If your company is using Exchange Online with CRM Online, note the following:

CRM Online supports server-side synchronization with Exchange Online in the same tenant in Office 365 with Server to Server Authentication. Other authentication methods or settings are not recommended or supported, including:

    • Using credentials specified by a user or queue

    • Using credentials specified in an email server profile

    • Using Impersonation

    • Setting Auto Discover Server Location to No

    • Using an email server profile other than Microsoft Exchange Online

    • Using non-default network ports

Connecting CRM Online with Exchange Online in different tenant is not supported.

      Unsupported email service configurations

Server-side synchronization doesn’t support the following scenarios:

    • Hybrid deployments:

      • CRM Online with Exchange (on-premises)

      • Microsoft Dynamics CRM (on-premises) with Exchange Online

    • Mix of Exchange/SMTP and POP3/Exchange

    • Creation of mass email marketing campaigns

    • Extensibility scenarios like extending EWS/POP3/SMTP protocols and creating custom email providers

    • Exchange Server 2003 and Exchange Server 2007

    • Server-side synchronization in CRM Online, or in a Microsoft Dynamics CRM (on premises) deployment that is configured for FIPS 140-2 compliancy, requires a POP3/SMTP email server that is also FIPS 140-2 compliant. Some email servers are not FIPS 140-2 compliant, such as MSN, Outlook.com, or Windows Live Mail.

For most situations not supported by server-side synchronization, you can use the Microsoft Dynamics CRM Email Router. More information: Choose a method for message synchronization

    Note

We recommend that you don’t use a mixed configuration of Outlook synchronization and server-side synchronization for appointments, contacts, and tasks in the same organization, because it may result in updated CRM data not synchronizing to all attendees.

To create an exchange online trial you must obtain a trial for Office E3, this contains exchange online trial licenses, sharepoint, yammer, etc. you can find it in purchase service on O365 portal.

It is not possible to connect CRM Online with Exchange Online that are in different tenants.

To configure CRM Online and Exchange Online:

1.- Use SSS as email process configuration (verify in email configuration)
2.- Approve mailbox and save (mailbox must be approved by O365 Admin)
    3.- Test and Enable
4.- Also add to trusted sites in IE https://*.onmicrosoft.com and https://*.dynamics.com

If you want to see more information to do troubleshooting I suggest you to turn on warning message inside email configuration. Also you can contact MS support so they can help you taking traces when doing configuration and indicate possible causes that generate email configuration problems.
