We have noted that when an Event Registration is created - either from the event portal or manually from Marketing - it creates both a contact and a lead. We don't want leads to be created, is this possible to configure?

You can now turn off creating leads for an event from the event's general tab itself, once you upgrade to the December 2018 release.
