Leslie has you on the right track for this account number.  Our book, Information Flow and Posting documents the sources of account numbers in all of the transactions for the core accounting modules.  When something is missing or incorrect, like in this case, you can easily look into our book and find information on the account number's source.

Check it out on our web site!

    Hi,

Do you mean chart of account for the AP control account in GL? or the vendor bank account number?

The vendor's account number (meaning your account number at the vendor) is located in the Vendor Master File. You say distribution (which means general ledger accounts) if an account number is not defaulting in, then you probably do not have it set. Go to the vendor maintenance card and click on the accounts button in the lower right-hand corner of that window. You can see if you have a default account for the vendor. The other place to check is the company default posting accounts.

What kind of account number are you looking for? A GL account?

    Kind regards,

    Leslie

    Hi,

I don't have a direct answer for ya on that problem, but if your looking for an easy way to find out which tables a certain window is using, make sure you get a copy of the Support Debugging Tool. You simply type in the window's name and boom! you get all tables referenced by that window. Or even better, you can type in the field name and it returns all tables that refer to that field. More on the Support Debugging Tool here.
