Product 6499 does not support upgrading from version 10.0.1458.

After installing GP Version 10 year-end update for 2011.  Utilities fails citing an invalid version. The update log indicates:

Product 6499 does not support upgrading from version 10.0.1458.

Once I remove all related lines to that product number from the dynamics and dynutils set files I can run the utilities.

However I must put the lines backinto the set files before I can run Dynamics.

What's happening and how can this be resolved?

RE: Product 6499 does not support upgrading from version 10.0.1458.

Janakiram's answer was perfect. Running Utilities requires you to re-convert, but it is very quick. Less than 1 minute per company. I assume it is updating the module in question:

    Janakiram's answer:

    1. Make backups of all DB

    2. Run the scripts below

     Delete DYNAMICS..DU000030 where PRODID = 6499

     Delete DYNAMICS..DU000020 where PRODID = 6499

     Update DYNAMICS..DB_Upgrade set db_verOldMajor = 0, db_verOldBuild = 0, db_status = 0 where PRODID = 6499

    3. Launch GP  Utilities directly. Do not reinitialize by logging into Dynamics GP before launching Utilities.

    Victor,

Can you please follow upgrade path and installed latest hotfix? Check on this blog :blog.ktlsolutions.com/.../dynamics-gp-2010-upgrade-path.html

Check your version of GP10 and then installed respective latest patch for GP2010.

if you are Microsoft Partner or customer you can get Upgrade Path details

    Thanks

    Hi,

    I'm trying to do the update GP10.0 SP5 to GP2010R2 SP1.

I had problems with this update, I have the same error for the online help module 6499. I can try the above solutions. But what about the other modules. I do the same? not affect the upgrade of these modules?

Re: Product 6499 does not support upgrading from version 10.0.1458.

    Hi Everyone,

I know this post is almost old (Jan 2011), but looking currently to upgrade from GP10 to GP2010, I started to search around and came across this posting. Following a blog post from Frank Hammely about the SY07110 table, I found out that the module 6499 Dynamics Online Services was actually duplicating entries in this table every time someone logs into GP.... which is not supposed to happen, since this table contains the menu structure for the navigation in GP. I had over 17k records in this table and once I deleted all the 6499 entries, it melted down to 1720 rows. This module was apparently added recently to my GP 10 clients after the SP5 with the year-end update was applied earlier this year or at the end of 2010.

As someone suggested, I would open a ticket in Connect to Microsoft, so the team will be notified about the various bugs affecting this. I'm not sure by today of the real usage of this new module.

I'll definitely keep this in mind when upgrading to GP2010R2...

Re: Product 6499 does not support upgrading from version 10.0.1458.

I had already upgraded a dataset for my staff to use to get familiar with Version 2010.

They asked to use the most current data to for more testing. I then ran into the same problem.

I did what Ian suggested first, but stopped after clearing out the Dynamics and DYNUTIL.set files.

then i ran the SQL Scripts suggested by Janakiram M.P.

Combining the two I was able to upgrade my test data again.

I then installed SP1 and all is well again. I can't go to SP2 as one of my 3rd Party Providers has not released a version compatible yet.

    Things are happy again.

Thanks for the tips, nice work.

Still seeing hangs on users where I removed the Dynamics Online Services.

Possible pattern seems to have it ocuring after locking (Alt- Win) and returning to their computer.

Ah well, thanks for the suggestion though!

Dynamics Online Services is included with SP5 for Dynamics GP 10.0 and SP1 for Dynamics GP 2010.  It is laying out the components in preparation for the Payment Services and Commerce Services feature.

Re: Product 6499 does not support upgrading from version 10.0.1458.

I had previously tried the DYNAMICS.SET route, but didn't know of the extra steps with the two DLLs. It is now removed from a few of the user's PCs.

I will monitor and see if the hang problem goes away.

    Thanks!

So, what exactly does Microsoft Online Services do?
