Accidentaly Deleted Visual Studio 2019, How to Re-Install in Dev Cloud Machine?

Hi dear community !

I have a cloud development machine for D365 F&O. The visual studio 2019 that came with the machine was deleted by accident using the clean executable tool that is available in the Visual studio installation folder.

I don't want to go through enviornement re-deployment.

Is there a way to get the visual studio back (re-install) without VM re-deployment?

Any advice is appreciated !

Hi,

You can re-install the visual studio, but you may face issue with the DEV tools that are pre-installed in the VM as the re-installation of the VS may not be enough.

Could you please check with your networking/azure expert to find a backup from the pre-cleanup days and restore the backup of the VM

Hi @Momochi

If restoring a backup doesn't work as per @Sohaib Cheema's suggestions, I personally wouldn't bother with reinstalling, in the time it would take to install the app and all the tools correctly, you could just provision a replacement. It's nice to do occasionally anyway, to get all the latest updates. It really shouldn't be much hassle to go through, couple of clicks in LCS and some source control mappings and you are away.
