Management Reporter Process Service keeps stopping

(0) ShareShare
ReportReport
Posted on by 943

We have reports stuck in que in MR.  I have been through all the troubleshooting tips, including starting and stopping the service and application, we even detached and re-attached the database but we cannot get these reports out of the que.  Is there a script I can run to remove them?

While trying to troubleshoot we realized that the process service keeps stopping and restarting itself, every 2 minutes or so.  This happens while logged in as the management reporter administrator or the domain administrator or with everyone logged off the server (but not shut down).  This is a new install and these were the first reports we tried to print.  My client tried to remove the first report because it wasn't doing anything and it is still "cancelling" days later.  He did do this from a virtual machine, not sure if that matters.  We can't test this by running a report from a computer directly logged in to the domain because we can't get these reports out of the que.  We are on version 2012 sp2

Occassionally there is an error ( says you don't have permission) but then it starts a few seconds later.  We had security issues with the install but I thought after we were able to integrate with all of our companies and imort our reports from FRx we had fixed all the security issues.

Thank you for any help with this.

Although the service log just says "process started successfully" I looked at the event viewer and it says:

    Application: MRServiceHost.exe Framework Version: v4.0.30319 Description: The process was terminated due to an unhandled exception. Exception Info: System.TimeZoneNotFoundException Stack: at System.TimeZoneInfo.GetTimeZone(System.String) at System.TimeZoneInfo.FindSystemTimeZoneById(System.String) at Microsoft.Dynamics.Common.Scheduler.GenericScheduler.ExtensionMethods.ToScheduler(Microsoft.Dynamics.Common.Scheduler.Data.Trigger) at Microsoft.Dynamics.Common.Scheduler.GenericScheduler.Scheduler+SchedulerTask.CreateFromDataTask(Microsoft.Dynamics.Common.Scheduler.Data.Task, System.Guid) at Microsoft.Dynamics.Common.Scheduler.GenericScheduler.Scheduler.LoadTasks() at Microsoft.Dynamics.Common.Scheduler.GenericScheduler.Scheduler.OnHeartbeat() at Microsoft.Dynamics.Common.Scheduler.GenericScheduler.Scheduler.StartScheduler() at Microsoft.Dynamics.Performance.Reporting.Scheduler.SchedulerService.<OnStart>b__1() at System.Threading.ExecutionContext.Run(System.Threading.ExecutionContext, System.Threading.ContextCallback, System.Object, Boolean) at System.Threading.ExecutionContext.Run(System.Threading.ExecutionContext, System.Threading.ContextCallback, System.Object) at System.Threading.ThreadHelper.ThreadStart()

The client machine was set to the wrong time zone so we changed that.  I uninstalled and re-installed the process service and those reports are STILL stuck in there!  The process service continues to stop every minute or 2 and restart itself even though we fixed the time zone thing-and that continues to be the error in the event viewer.

I can't find anything related to this other than to change the time zone to the correct one-and we did that.

Any help at all would be appreciated.

    Thank You.

Do you have any resolution on this issue yet?  I have uncovered it at 2 of my customer sites.  I am using MR2012 ERP Rollup 1.

The installation and report generation went very smoothly on the database server - until I installed MR on the first client workstation.  Now the application log indicates the MR Process Service stops and restarts every 2 minutes and all of my reports from either the database server or the workstation get stuck in a "queued" status.  I can cancel them, but they remain in the queue.

    Cheers,

    David

No, I have not been able to get this fixed.  I have some IT people working on it - does your event viewer have the same error regarding time zone?  I meant we were on rollup 1 as well.

Having the same problem here.  Any resolution on this yet?  We have a client down trying to run MR2012 reports.

Not sure what fixed it.  They did all Windows updates, unistalled MR, then re-installed it.  Made sure to do all steps "run as administrator".  Honestly, for all the hours it took it would have been cheaper to just get GP support involved.  Sorry I couldn't be of more help.  I had 2 IT 'pros' work on it.

1st, Make sure the time zone of the client machine is the exact same as the MR server.

2nd, run this script against the MR database: SELECT TimeZoneId, * FROM.[Scheduling].[Trigger]

3rd, the TimeZoneId needs to be the same for all reports.

My issue was fixed by running a SQL script to setTimeZoneId= 'Eastern Standard Time' which was the server time zone.  The reports immediatly began running after this update was run.

Also, check your row formats.  Are you restricting rows to units of the tree?  Make sure that each one of those rows has a GL account assigned or the report will also get stuck.

Our time zones were all correct.  I didn't see this script before, wish I'd known then, this cost my client a lot of money in consultant fees to fix and we have no idea what exactly fixed it.

    Hello,

This was narrowed down to a issue where the client has a timezone that doesn't exist on the server. This was fixed with the Management Reporter RU2 release.

    Thanks

    Hi,

I had the same problem. I had a report with the definition row with a complex calculate. I removed this formula, and the problem was fixed.

When I tried to generate this report with this problem, the service was stopping.

Try check if you have some complex formula in your reports.

    Regards,

    Mary

    Hi Mary,

I haven't seen stuck reports or the service stopping in over 18 months. Make sure you are on a recent Cumulative Update of Management Reporter. If you are on a recent CU, I'd love for you to email me and show me what your formula was.

    Thanks!

    Ryan
