The ship date is entered on the order from smartlist and PO selected
At this point the ship date is still showing correctly on the order.
The Purchasing batch is then posted. Once the enter/match purchasing batch is posted, the ship date changes to the current date.
Any way to keep the shipping date?

First assumption is that you are not using the pick/pack/ship workflow of advanced distribution.
I need some clarification. If you use line item allocation, and do not use a separate fulfillment process, the order will try to allocate and fulfill at the time the line item is entered. First question is what do you do if a shortage dialog is presented. The other question I have is whether the order is a drop ship.
By design, the ship date is updated when the item is fulfilled. So, it's the fulfillment that is key.
So, if you use a separate fulfillment process - the ship date will not change when the PO is Received. It will allocate, but not fulfill. When you go through the fulfillment process from the transactions menu, a ship date is on that window. This is the date that will update the sales order.
So, controll the fulfullment and you will control the ship date.
