How to add "Record URL (dynamic) to Email Template on CRM 2015

Hi all,

Is it possible to add "Record URL (dynamic)" to Email Template on CRM 2015.

I would like to create an Email Template that the body will contain a dynamic URL hyperlink to a case. Later I would like to attach this email template to a workflow...

I'm afraid this is not the case with CRM 2015.

As you can see from my print screen, there is no option for "hyperlink".

Hello SharonV,

Dynamics CRM OOB does not support adding Record URL (Dynamic) to email template!

There is workaround, by adding a new custom field to the case entity, then create a workflow to fire on case create which updates the new field to be a Record URL (Dynamic), then simply add this field to your email template and attach the email template to your workflow :)

Indeed. I needed this just today and after some trial and error, your solution worked great Abed. Any idea how to best work in a "friendly URL" there on the email template?

Hello AXEON Man,

Simply at the work flow, update the new field to be the following :

<hyperlink><name>Click Here</name><value>{Click HereProduct-{Record URL(Dynamic)}}</value></hyperlink>

Then add this field to your email template :)

There is a better way, Just set the field type to be "URL".

For me it did the trick.

Hi,

I know this is a rather old question and there are some workarounds mentioned, but I'd like to add, that you can send emails with links to certain record from a workflow.

The trick is to NOT use a Email template but define a new email so to say inline.

In the Set Properties you can set up your email and also add a link to the record.

Unfortunately is the email fields syntax different form the one used for the email templates. Copy and past from an existing email template won't do the job.

Hi ,

I also tried for adding through hyperlink but it was showing the text and URL both and and even tried it putting in anchor tag in Template but it updating the URL by emailbody and all

The best solution is create a URL data field and save it with the full anchor tag

like below

<a id='hiddenHyperLink' href='yourcrm.com/main.aspx;pagetype=entityrecord&id=29ccfe67-7786-e811-80ed-0050569b2b3b'>Click here</a>

and use that data field directly in Email template and also use the *hiddenHyperLink* it perfectly worked for me
