Send email on Event Registration...am I missing something?

Hi guys

Now that the iCal functionality is with us I'm looking to build an email that would be sent out to anyone that registers for an event

  • We have created our Segment (essentially just looks at the Event Registration for the specific Event;
  • We have created our Marketing Email (including the link to the iCal (.ics) file. we've tested this in Preview and it appears to work as expected;
  • We have attempted to create the Customer Journey...and this is where the issue comes in.

The journey should be a fairly simple one as far as I'm aware. Select the Segment we wish to use (which we have done) and then if they registered send out the email. We'd used the Event Marketing Template and removed some of the tiles. We were only left with the Segment, a condition (is Registered) and an email tile. However, on running a check we get an error.

So I think we need to tell this which Event we're talking about so I click the if Registered tile and the tile changes to a blank state (simply showing If/then) and the Conditions options will not allow me to select anything. Am I missing something here?

If we start with a blank Customer Journey and add an If/then tile the Conditions section looks like this:

Is there something I'm missing or perhaps something not working correctly with this atm?

Any advice or assistance greatly appreciated as always.

Steven

    Hi Steven,

    You should insert an email which contains an event or a marketing form which needs to be registered as an element before the if/ then tile.

    Then you can set the tile with the element as the source.

    If this helped you, I'd appreciate it if you'd mark this as a Verified Answer, which may in turn help others as well.

    Best Regards,

    Nya

    I knew there'd be something simple I'd left out. Was essentially not thinking straight here as all the elements combined do what I was trying to do...I simply needed to add the first email piece as suggested. I was forgetting that the CJ needed to send something before it could perform an action upon the outcomes and was simply trying to add the outcome before the action.
