What is the guidance for someone who is already using a custom Dynamics portal with various customizations and features when enabling Marketing?
Marketing creates a totally separate Portal so my customer is facing the issue of not being able to effectively combine the functions of both portals.
Ideally they would like to use the URL of their existing custom portal but add the features of Marketing (marketing emails, customer journey, scoring etc.) alongside what they already have.
I'm aware of the Configuration Migration tool. Would either of these approaches work?
A1. Migrate existing custom portal content to Marketing portal
A2. Disable custom portal
A3. Reclaim custom portal's URL and change the Marketing portal to use that.
OR
B1. Create Marketing portal, then migrate those features into custom portal.
Any approaches you can share to using various portal features in an integrated manner would be appreciated.
Hi Dillon,
Just wanted to check if you were able to work this out for your client? Please update how it went for you..... I have a similar requirement.
Regards,
Akhil
Hi Dillon,
Integration with existing content management systems is coming in the April 2019 release. You can check out our Release Notes to get further details. Until this is fully available, your customer could migrate some of their data as needed into the Marketing Portal. Or they can use the features of Marketing which will track say someone clicking a link from an email to open their custom portal page but won't track further within their existing portal. Many of our customers today are just using the Marketing portal instead of their custom portal for ease but since we are close to April, more of a temporary solution might be a better answer for you.
Thanks,
Megan
