Sales Prices - can it be zero - NAV13

HI, was wondering if you can set the Sales Price to zero.

When I enter zero it is ignoring it. someone had suggested 0.00001, but I am unsure if this will effect the integrity of the process.

Example being we have certain customers with contracts where we do a monthly charge, but if they buy a certain product, they get that item at zero price as it is covered in their monthly contract invoice.  We want to do a sales order for the item when they want it to enable despatch and record usage, but we do not want to charge for it at that time.

We utilise the Sales Prices and Sales Discounts for other pricing for customers and this forms part of the pricing to the customer.

Please advise best practice method to achieve this.

Regards

    Hi,

Yes, you may setup the Sales Price as zero (0).  I feel that you may setup the Customer Price Group, and the Sales Prices be setup for the that Customer Price Group and the Item to be as zero (0).

    Anita,

When you say ignoring it could you please explain it in detail and possible screenshot of your setup. I recommend using Sales Discounts in this scenario instead of setting price it as zero. Set Sales Discount for that item for that customer to 100% instead of setting price of those items as zero.

    thank you for your replies.

Suresh, in regards to ignoring it, when you enter item on the sales line it lists full system price as if the Sales Prices does not even exist.

I was wondering if 100% discount would be more integrity suitable than entering zero.

In testing I have found that I can enter Sales Price of 0.00001 which is calculating to zero on the Sales Order. Apparently it used to work in NAV09R2 but we have recently upgraded, so I am also going to double check system set-up.

I think there is a check in codeunit 7000 function CopySalesPriceToSalesPrice that if Unit Price is <> 0 then only it is copying.
