How to setup Password Policies for SQL Server Login

We just upgraded to GP 2013R2 and want to use the advanced setting to enforce password policies.  Actually, our preference would be to use Windows/AD authentication, but it appears that we cannot do that since we don't use the Web Version?  Am I right/wrong?

Anyway, going through the forum posts, I saw a few references to 'Understanding the Password Policy..."  https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2028712 and looked at the White Paper (for SQL Server 2005) there, but didn't see anything that provides step-by-step instructions for any version - we would be particularly interested in those for SQL Server 2008R2.

Any advice?

    Mary,

Ditto to Mahmoud and Rosemary's response. To answer your other question about utilizing your AD credentials, yes that is only for the WebClient, when properly setup, Desktop application is SQL login only.

Hi Mary, we currently use GP 2013, and as Mahmoud indicated as long as you tick the option to 'enforce password policy' it will maintain the same policies as Active Directory

    Hello Marry

Once you enable the password policy by marking the "Enforce password policy" on the user setup window, it will force users to adhere to the same password policies that have been established on the Windows Server domain.

For that, check Active Directory Password Policy

Additional options in the user setup window are:

    Change Password Next Login

Mark this option to force users to change their passwords the next time they log in to Microsoft Dynamics GP. The Enforce Password Policy must be marked for this option to be available.

    Enforce Password Expiration

Mark this option to force users to change their passwords after the number of days that is defined by the Windows Server domain password policies. This option is available only if you have marked the Enforce Password Policy option. The Enforce Password Policy must be marked for this option to be available

Furthermore, you do need to take a look at Mariano article on Enforcing Password Policy with Dynamics GP

    Your feedback is highly appreciated,
