Quick Find View does not respect search criteria

Our Dynamics CRM 2011 started to behave weirdly after rollup 14.

Some of my “Quick Find” views (accounts and contacts) started to pop disabled records that matched the provided text.

I’ve done a few digging and tried to reset filters and added custom ones, just to confirm that the quick find is just matching the text filters and leaving off the additional criteria…

Also, our QA environment behaves perfectly, it only happens on production…

Someone have something like this?

Any help would be appreciated…

Thanks in advance!

Have you verified if there are columns other than "Name" included in the text search?

In my case, if only the default name column is included, the rest of the filter was ignored...

Also, this happened on Dynamics CRM 2011, can't say if it would take place on other versions.

RE: Quick Find View does not respect search criteria

I have an issue where my Quick Find View is showing me inactive records even though I have my filter set to only show Active records. Any ideas?

Thank you for your quick reply.

I agree with you, so I am trying to tell the internal business users to get used to this behavior.

BTW, I am using outlook crm client.

    Thank you for your help!

Well, I guess this behavior is by design.

When you type something in “quick find” and hit enter, the view is switched to “quick find” view, with its setup (columns showed, order and additional filters).

Any previous configuration (sort, filter, etc.) is lost.

And something I’ve never saw until now, the “Filter” button in the ribbon is disabled…

I guess there is no additional column filter available with quick find view…

Even clicking on “Advanced Find” shows an empty filter, leaving you no initial setup…

RE: Quick Find View does not respect search criteria

My issue is I can't use quick find and filter at the same time.

    Salse -> Accounts

Then I set up a couple of filters, like owner = John Smith

At this time, if I use quick find, like to search "Berkeley", what I got is the records matches quick find,

but only the filter status = active is valid

    The other filters are ignored.

I searched online for a while, and found that this is likely to be default behaviors from MS CRM.

So I wonder is there way to let use quick find and filter at the same time?

    Thank you so very much!

RE: Quick Find View does not respect search criteria

    Hi keiutou,

My issue started after someone removed all items (but the default “Name” column) from the “search columns” (5th item in the right, while customizing the “quick find” view).

    8233.temp.png

For some bug-ish reason, the system started to return all items that matched the string searched, despite other filters being configured for this view.

After adding some itens back to the “search columns” list, the filtering criteria started to applied as well.

Let me know if this cleared it all for you!

I've never found what happened to this config... And it never happened again, so far...

    Glad it helped someone!
