Using Zones for Basic Warehouse Management

In business central, I know Zones are mandatory in Advance Warehouse (i.e., Directed Put away and Pick).

My question is that can we use Zones in basic warehouse (i.e., without Directed Put away and Pick)?

    Directed Put-Away and Pick must be turned on to use Zones in BC.  Not sure why, but that is a requirement.
