GP Web Client not connecting from workstations

I just installed another web client for GP 2015 R2 and all works fine on the server.  However, from all the workstations I get the message about an exception occurring and in the event viewer on the server I see this message:

"System.Web.HttpException (0x80004005): Server cannot set status after HTTP headers have been sent."

This appears to be a generic message but what does it mean for the GP web client and how do I get workstations to connect to the web client?

Richard, my default answer and starting point would have to be looking at the security, both for the physical file location as well as the Dynamics Security Console.

Not sure if it the issue, but, I seem to recall that 'generic / nonsense messages' often relate to security missing connections.

We have tried moving the GP Web Users group to the base of the OU tree but that did not help. I have their IT staff working on it and if they are unsuccessful I will open a  case with Microsoft.

I understand you've created a support case so I'll close this forum.

I did research our case history, but couldn't find any mention of this error that we've seen with Web Client and/or Dynamics GP.

    Thank you

Richard, when you get a reply, can you post to the forum ?

I will certainly do that. We tried rearranging the group in the OU but that did not help. Very strange that it works on the server but not from any of the workstations.

Richard, I know it is the weekend, but I have just encountered a similar situation.

My web client works fine on the server, but the two clients appear to log on, but sit on the 'Please wait while we ......' page for what feels like ever.  I can not find an error to review in the Event Viewer on the workstation.

Any suggestion on where to look for the error you mentioned?

I asked my client to open case with Microsoft. Let me check to see if they did. I have not heard anything.

    Richard and Bill,

This might sound a silly question, but did you deployed the SSL certificate on all the remote workstations where the Web client is launched ?

Also check if the Compatibility View mode is disabled and that you're on the latest SilverLight version...

This is for testing purposes and right now they are using a self-signed SSL certificate. Perhaps there is something in their configuration that is preventing this from being installed. I will check with their IT team.

It definitely looks like an SSL issue... I had that same behaviour the first time I attempted to setup the GP web client on the server side... missing the proper SSL references left me in the dust. Talking at Convergence to some GP web guru from MS helped to solve the mystery. The SSL needs to be referenced at least in 3 different places if I recall correctly.

I used a self-signed certificate from our Domain too at the second install attempt and it worked like a charm after that.

Of course, if you intend to expose the Web site to outside your corporate network, I'd strongly suggest to go for a 3rd-party SSL that is already recognized as a valid 'trusted' authority.
