Account Description Change made to the Segment Description within Tools\Setup\Financial\Segment => however, it is not showing on the card.

Does anyone happen to know why?

I have the same question (0)

Changing a segment description doesn't impact the existing GL Accounts.    (Naming segments are useful for new account editions and lookups by segment and/or with financial reporting.)

I believe you can use Cards > Financial > Mass Modify to update the account descriptions based on segments.  (Note:  I haven't used it this way - as I don't have many clients who are building their Account Descriptions based on segments - and I believe there has been some functionality change over the year.  As it is a mass modify tool, and the window can be confusing, I recommend trying it in a test company first and carefully documenting the changes and having a current backup before attempting it on a production database.)

    Hi Lisa -

Thank you for responding. I did update ~300 Account Descriptions as our Budgeting tool pulls from that segment field and we had field length restrictions. At least the change, did impact our tool correctly.

I tried the Mass Modify function. It is confusing....I have not been successful using this approach. It seems GP is not dynamic and when a

change occurs it doesn't find/replace throughout system auto. It seems like a sql action in the tables will make this work....I was hoping not....this is why I am asking for community help.

    Hello,

Using Mass Modify would make sense to me.  I know you said that you tried that and had some confusion on how to properly use it for your scenario.  Please see the following article for documentation on this feature.

    I hope this helps!
