Unable to remove Unit of Measure

Hi,

We're trying to remove a Unit of Measure (PALLET) for a certain item because it will no longer be used and we want to prevent end-uders from selecting it by accident (there is another UoM called EPAL with the same quantity per unit).

However when we try to remove the UoM we get the following error message:

You cannot modify Item Unit of Measure PALLET for item 1210457 because there are one or more warehouse adjustment entries for the item.

More information:
  • running "Calculate Warehouse Adjustment..." on the item journal doesn't generate any lines.
  • the sum of all warehouse entries with Zone & Bin = ADJUSTMENT is zero.
  • There is no inventory with the UoM
  • There are no reservation entries for this UoM
  • There are no purchase and no sales line for this UoM
I'm at a loss why I'm not able to just delete the UoM...

Any asistance is appreciated.

Regards,
Max

This is standard behavior. Once used in warehouse adjmt, it cannot be deleted, which is the same as Users.

    Thanks.

    Hello,

The error you're encountering typically occurs because the system detects that there are still some historical records related to the "PALLET" Unit of Measure (UoM), which prevents it from being removed. Even though you have already checked for many common sources, there are still a few things you could check or try to resolve the issue.

    • Warehouse Adjustments: Double-check past warehouse adjustments or related entries, even if they show zero quantity.
    • Inventory Entries: Verify if there are any old inventory transactions still referencing "PALLET".
    • Sales/Purchase Documents: Check for any historical sales or purchase orders or receipts that might still use "PALLET".
    • Reservations or Stockkeeping Entries: Ensure no lingering stockkeeping entries or reservations are linked to "PALLET".
    • System Logs: Look for any system logs or errors that could give more insight into hidden dependencies.
Hope this will work for you

    Hi YUN ZHU,

Thank you for your clear and consice reply.
Can the same be said when you want to edit a quantity on the item UoM line?

Do you have any suggestions on how to handle these changes?
Can we disable the UoM somehow?

    Regards,
    Max

Hi, If you want to force a change, you can refer to the following method.
Dynamics 365 Business Central: Can we skip/ignore field validation errors?

If you want to force deletion, you can refer to the following, although this is not recommended.
Dynamics 365 Business Central: How to bulk delete data on a list page that includes a Card page (For example, bulk delete items on the Item List page)

    Thanks.

    Hello,

As this UoM will be no longer used, and  out of box, the system doesnt allow to delete as equivalent enteris exist, we can also look around for a solution another way to block the UoM (customization) and we wont be able to use it further.

    Thanks,
    TK

If you're sure this uofm is not used anywhere for this item, you can use configuration packages without validation to delete it from the item unit of measure page/table. Another simple way to delete it is using this free app - Table Data Editor 2.0
