Extension Marketplace - won't allow install

I'm on BC20 Cloud with my Database hosted by a 3rd party, not MS. When I go to the extension marketplace to install an app I get an error (even though I have super user admin rights):

Installation of extensions from the marketplace is not supported for your system configuration. For more information, see https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/business-central/ui-extensions

Is the extension of apps only allowed if the DB is hosted by MS? Why is that the case? It creates massive integration headaches for non-MS hosted DB's when installs can't take place and let the apps properly talk to my database.

It seems that your BC is not the SaaS version. Maybe IaaS? In this way, you actually install the On-Pre version on the cloud server. For the On-Pre version, if you need to install apps from other partners, you need to contact them to install them manually.

If you want to install a Microsoft first-party app, you can find it in the installation package. Of course, this also requires manual installation.
