    Hello,

If the field is visible on the form and you only need to ensure that that field is filled in before deactivating the record, a simple way to address that requirement is to create real time workflow that runs BEFORE the Appropriation Status changes. You can write it as such:

If Appropriation Status= Active AND Dropdown does not contain data

Stop workflow with the Status CANCELED

Set a descriptive error message like "You cannot deactivate this record without setting the (dropdown field) value)

    Hi,

There is no supported way of adding a dropdown there. You can create a custom dialog and replace the system Deactivate button with your own, which will display your dialog.
