Units of Measure - Production / Sales

Hi,

As a business we will sell in single units or cases (i.e a case of 6 or 12). However when producing we will produce and stock inventory in single units.

Is it possible to set up Items so that they are produced / stocked as single items but then invoiced in singles or cases?

Thanks

yes, you can create unit of measures on item card and use pieces as Base UOM.

you can set different sales and purchase UOM's on Item Card

    Hi Mohana,

Thanks for your answer. Just to clarify, if I set up a sales UOM of 1 case = 12pcs or 1 case = 6pcs the sales invoice will show 1 case but the reduction in inventory upon posting the sale will be 12 or 6 depending on the selection?

    Thanks

    Hi MCCB,

You'll want the Base UOM as Each or Pieces (single units) with the Quantity Per Unit of Measure set to '1'. Then you'll need two different Sales Units of Measure - one for the 12 pack and one for the 6 pack. You won't be able to enter 1 Case = 6 AND 1 Case = 12. You'll need to designate a different unit of measure for the 6 and for the 12.

Item card contains just one Base measurement unit, which in your case will be (1) pieces. You can setup additional measurement units, whatever they can be, and setup a relation between the additional unit and the base unit. You would be able then to use additional units in sales orders, but when posting them the system will calculate the item transactions always in base measurement units.
