Autonumbering a Form

Hi there,

I have downloaded and installed the autonumber solution from codeplex(AdvancedCRMAutonumber) and it works a treat, for some of my entities. However i need to do something different with it.

I have created our own custom contact form which i need to autonumber a field only when the user creates the contact on that form and not the standard information form.

Any ideas/solutions on how to achieve this.

    Sorry to bump this but really needing help on this one.

    Could I do the autonumber using javascript on a form?

    Something like get Javascript to look at the highest number on a View (the view only shows those with a number) then add 1 onto it?

    Javascript and workflow aren't reliable enough for developing an autonumbering feature.

    None of the free or commercial autonumbering solutions that I'm aware of offer a feature that enables you to assign a number only when certain forms are used to create a record, so you're probably going to have to develop your own plugin to achieve this requirement.
