Management Reporter 2.1.12

Posted on by 60

We have MR server installed on Windows server 2008 R2 and MR client installed on 3 Win7 terminals. For some reason the clients have several more report definitions than the DB server. What would the reason be for this and how can we correct? Unfortunately when/if i try to export the building blocks from the client, the application locks/crashes indicating VS

right.. the question crossed my mind too, but then it would also mean there are potentially 2 different servers running MR .. (!).. if one client wouldn't point to a valid MR server, it would throw an error anyway.

Hey sorry, I'll ask the obvious but are all of the clients pointed to the correct place?  Under Tools>>Connection, the server entered should be the "server" that has the 2 Management Reporter services running on it.

Figure it makes sense to start here.  I'm not sure how the clients could be picking up anything else as all reporting blocks are stored in the Management Reporter database.

    Hi Renee,

The crash when trying to export the definitions was a known bug by Microsoft and was due to the use of the mouse to perform the selection.. if you leave the mouse out of the game and select everything with the keyboard, the export should work.

Now to your problem with the different report definitions: can you please check if on the server and the workstations the MR Designer is using the same building block group by default ? This is a user setting and you could end up with multiple building block groups, not having the same content.. This happens quite often for customers that have upgraded from FRx to MR 2012. (see my recent blog series on FRx to MR 2012 : dyngpgeek.wordpress.com/.../ )
