Copying an instance from dev to production CRM online. A few questions I need clearing up:

Does this take across all customization's, views and the data?

How long does it typically take to do this? Would it take 1/2 a day typically or could the number vary depending on data size?

Just to make sure it's stated, typically you copy over solutions and customizations from Dev (sandbox) to Production. If you copy over Dev to Production, you will completely overwrite your database and lose any production data that doesn't exist in Dev. I would say it is rare to copy a dev instance into production unless you're just starting out.

With that said, it should take the same amount of time as it takes to copy from Prod to Dev and it is highly dependent on your data size, but still varies. Typically it takes anywhere from 5 minutes to 25 minutes for my environment (7GB of Storage). I believe the max database size they support on CRM online is only 50GB, so I can't see it taking half a day no matter how hard you try.

It is a new setup hence it going from Dev to Production and thanks for the answer. Exactly what I was looking for.

I know this post is over a year old but I figured id try. I have configured a new enviroment (including fields/forms/solutions etc) in a sandbox enviroment. Can you tell me how i can copy this entire instance to the (out of the box) production instance?
