Workaround needed to 'convert' Outbound customer journeys which are still in progress

I am facing the following issue: We are trying to convert our outbound journeys to real time. We found out this is not possible and we need to rebuild real time journeys manually However we cannot figure out what to do with the contacts which are still 'in the middle' of a customer journey. Unfortunately Microsoft support has not been very helpful so far hence I was wondering if someone has been researching the same question out here:
 
  • Is there a workaround to create a query of the contacts that have not finished the customer journey yet? and on what step of the customer journey they are on?
  • Is there a way to possibly migrate this data (outbound marketing) to real time marketing?
  • If the above are not possible I was wondering if anyone knows where the data of contacts going through a customer journey is saved? In advanced find I can only find the customer journey iteration (record of moment when it was pushed live) but I cannot find any tables related under this table which saves the contacts that are going through the journeys and at which stage they are. I am trying to find this data in order to construct a solution. 
 
Does anyone have some advice for me on this? Thanks in advance for your help.
