AX 2012 R2 CU7 MS Project Integration error

We are trying out the new MS Project integration of AX 2012 R2 CU7. When we click the MS Project icon in the Project WBS form the project file gets created (and also saved o the file system). However, the WBS structure is not copied to the MS Project file and the MS Project status bar says that the synchronization failed. When we look into the event viewer we see the error:

4-12-2013 10:02:13 - This is not a Lock Box file (Error)

4-12-2013 10:02:13 -    at Microsoft.Dynamics.AX.Framework.OfficeAddin.Project.SyncFromAX.DoSync()

  at Microsoft.Dynamics.AX.Framework.OfficeAddin.Project.SyncBase.Sync(SyncInformation& information) (Error)

4-12-2013 10:02:13 - Sync failed.

Appreciate any help with how to solve this.

Regards

Can you verify that the path set in Project Management and Accounting Parameters for the folder where the file should live is accessible from the client? For instance, make sure the "Save Microsoft Project files to" is set to "Archive directory", and then copy and paste the path in "Folder for Microsoft Project Files" into Windows Explorer on the client you are using and make sure it resolves correctly.

    Hi Mirko,

When we open WBS in MS Project, the MS Project filename is created based on company name, Project ID etc. When we sync the WBS from AX to MS Project, we check for the integrity of the file using the filename with number of valdiations. It seems one of the validation is failing. Could you provide us with the filename for the MS Project file that got generated when you opened the WBS? I will investigate further and respond here.

    Thanks

    Hi all,

Sorry for the long time to reply. It seems the issue stemmed from the fact that we had 2 AOSes installed on the DEV server and both were running at the same time.

When we stopped one AOS service, the MS Project functionality worked fine.

Not sure if the dev team is interested in solving this issue. :-)

    Regards,

    Mirko

    Hi Mirko,

Thanks for the response. We will investigate this, were both AOSs running against the same database (Assume this is the case).

Is the WSDL port the same for both AOSs?

    Thanks

    No.

AOS 1 is on 8101 and AOS 2 is on 8102.

    Hi Revathi,

I am asking this here so as not to start a new thread:

Is it possible to customize the functionality of the MS project add-in for AX?

For example what if you want some WBS tasks to be synchronized while some other tasks not to be synchronized? This enables the WBS tasks within AX for internal use only while the MS Project file will be shared with a customer (just an example).

Are we able to customize the add-in to achieve this or will it remain a black-box (just a DLL)?

    Mirko
