Hi,

I would like to know if anyone have encouter this problem before.

My company have a lots of smartlist. Thus when opening the smartlist window, it may take 1-2 minutes to open depending of the location.

I ran a profiler on SQL and saw there is like a TONS of storedproc executed. Which result of the smartlist windows to open after 2 minutes.

Is there anyway to reduce the time or the number of request done to the SQL server which could improve a lots the smartlist window opening?

Here some misc infos.

GP 2013 SP1 ver. 12.00.1412

Smartlist ver. 12.00.1384

If you need more information, I will gladly provide them

There is third party app named "Process Logic" which can cause a similar behavior. Do you guys have it installed?

No. I saw a similar post on a different forum about this 3rd party app and I asked around if we have it installed, but no.

However, is there any way to be sure if it's installed or not?

You can go to Tools->Customize->Customization Status. There you can see any third-party you're using.

Nope, we don't have it installed. Thank you for the location of the information.

Nonetheless, we invistigated further and found a few "house apps" that generate some heavy load on the server

We're working on optimizing these queries to see if it's help.

But, after a few changes yesterday, our users have seen a small improvement in the loading time of the smartlist windows. But, in my opinion, 35sec is still too long for me (down from 2min tough).

When I run the profiler, there is still so many lines of stored proc executed.

    Hi,

This happen when you have lots of SP or views loading into the smart list , I would do the following:

1-Try a canned smartlist and see the speed there e.g accounts.

    2-Try custom smartlist in question.

See the different in both and make sure you investigate the view or the SP under the custom one.

If you have a problem with speed as well it might be that those custom smart list needed to be redone

    Thx for the info.

However, we're not really investigating a specific smartlist speed.

We're investigating when we open the smartlist window only. It take roughly 30-45sec.

GP must do something when hes opening the windows (checking the security maybe, I don't know) that take a while and stress up the SQL server.

Ill investogate further next week and give you some insight.

Hi, were you able to fix this issue? We're having a similar problem.

Hi, we did cut the time for the windows to open by 75%.

    This is what we did.

We checked the disk space and there was only 5% free space on the SQL server.
So we did a huge cleanup ( try to aim at 20%+ free space ). This gave us a small improvement

But the biggest improvement was after a huge cleanup of some StoredProc that was executed on a small timeframe on the server that required a lots of ressources. We had a few reccuring jobs runnning every 10 minute that required a lot of server ressources.

We checked the performance report available in SQL and looked at the top 10 most used stored proc and this gave us a lots of hints.

After the clean up, we were able to drop the window opening time from ~1m40sec to ~15-20 sec.

    I hope this help.
