Hello,

Is it possible to use Azure Content Delivery Network (CDN) or Azure Front Door to ensure access to D365 Finance and Operations in production (https://<Tenant>.operations.dynamics.com/)

Thank you,

Nejib.

I have the same question (0)

    Hi Nejib,

Can you tell the background of your question? Dynamics 365 is a SaaS application which will be available for you in a certain region (data center).  You can't manage settings for CDN or Azure Front Door yourself for this SaaS application.

Microsoft guarantees high availability for your Dynamics 365 applications.

    Hi André,

My concern is performance and optimizations features.

My client deployed D365 Finance and Operations in West Europe region and needs to ensure access to it from many African countries.
Most of those countries have a very bad latency to this region.

Using CDN/AFD will minimize latency between end-users and Microsoft backbone, and will enhance the overall access experience (caching, site acceleration, …)

For a practical example, preliminary tests from a local site in Mauritius showed that one CDN has a latency of less than “4 ms” but I couldn’t integrate this CDN with D365.

When you say “You can't manage settings for CDN or Azure Front Door yourself for this SaaS application”, is it possible to manage those settings via Microsoft Support ?

    Best regards,
    Nejib

    Hi Nejib,

Also via Microsoft Support this will not be possible. For latency issues, many organizations do consider having multiple production deployments in multiple Azure regions with different legal entities per deployment. You can read about this in the documentation: Multiple LCS projects and environments on one Azure AD tenant - Finance & Operations | Dynamics 365 | Microsoft Docs

    Hi André,

Thank you very much for your answers.

Currently having a second production instance is not an option for my client (high cost, high maintenance efforts, …)

Are you aware of any other mean to minimize latency ?

    Best regards,

    Nejib.

    Hi Nejib,

Unfortunately not. You can try to contact Microsoft Support, but they will probably provide the same information as I provided in this thread.
