On-Premise data sources

Hi,

Does anyone know why it is not possible to use on-premise data sources for Customer Insights? It is using Dataflows for data ingestion but for some reason it is not possible to use an on-premise gateway. There is an option to choose on-premises gateway but the active gateway is not shown. When I use dataflows within new Powerapps maker I can select the gateway normally. It is basically the same thing, but for some reason the option to use gateway is disabled in CI. What might be the reason?

    Hi Ivan,

    Thanks for reaching out. We leverage PowerBI dataflows in Customer Insights for data ingestion and therefore the interface is very similar to what we see in PQO, PowerApps etc. However, we don't have on-prem connectivity yet in CI and therefore the gateway option is disabled currently and does not list the available gateways.

    We are currently working on enabling on-prem connectivity and plan to preview the feature in June 2020. Please let us know if you are interested and we will add you to the preview.

    In the meantime, you can export your on-prem data to Azure SQL, Azure blobs, or CSV files etc. and ingest from there into CI.

    Hello Ivan

    Want to provide an update that the preview timeline for the on-prem connectivity is now moved from June 2020 to late July / early Aug, for the work involved in enabling this functionality in CI.

    Please continue to leverage the alternatives to get on-prem data into CI, i.e., export your on-prem data to Azure SQL, Azure blobs, or CSV files etc. and ingest from there into CI.

    Given that the gateways are not available. Wouldn't we better placed if they were greyed out on the interface? Currently it looks as though they are available.

    We were looking to use on-prem data sources in our current implementation.
