Dynamics GP 18.2 Audit User Security Changes

A client of mine uses Dynamics GP 18.2. They have 8 full service users and over 100 self service users.

Recently I noticed a few employees with more security roles assigned than the company would like.

Is there a way for me to audit those User Security changes to see who assigned the roles and when?

I've looked at the Activity Monitor in GP but I don't think it gives me what I need.

Is there a script I can run on SQL Server Management Studio?

I hope I clarified enough. This is my first post on here.

Thanks in advance,

Aaron

    Hi,

If you are tracking who is successfully opening windows with Activity Tracking, you can view who opened which window and when in the Activity Tracking Inquiry window (Inquiry >> System >> Activity Tracking).

I do agree with Beat in that Activity Tracking within core GP isn’t a true auditing solution. If a user opens the window but makes no changes, you’ll still see that in Activity Tracking. The 3rd party solutions he’s mentioned are utilized many customers successfully if you’re interested in something that can provide you with more detail.

    I hope this helps!

Thank you for using Dynamics Communities,

    Thanks for the clarification.

When I open the Activity Tracking window where would I look to see who opened the User Security window?

    Hi Aaron,

You'll only be able to see some changes in GP if the internal activity tracking had been enabled in GP.

Administration >> Setup >> System >> Activity Tracking

The activity tracking isn't an audit tool per say, as Microsoft stopped providing the true Audit Trailer package years ago.

You'd have to resort to a 3rd party product like Rockton Audit Trail, or FastPath Audit & AD Authentication.

GP Activity tracking might tell you who opened the user security form in GP, but not the changes that were done.. And if every sysadmin is using the 'sa' account to perform user maintenance, then you'll never find out who it was actually.
