Azure SQL Database - what pricing tier?

Hi,

I am interested for all users that have Business Central using Azure SQL Database as the database back-end, what pricing tier are you using.

Do you have any issues in general with Azure SQL Database and if so how did you resolve them?

Thanks

Hi, generally, it is selected according to the following System Requirements for Business Central.

System Requirements for Dynamics 365 Business Central 2022 Release Wave 1

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/business-central/dev-itpro/deployment/system-requirements-business-central-v20

    And Azure SQL Database pricing

    https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/pricing/details/azure-sql-database/single/

    Hope this info helps.

    Thanks.

    Hi Zhu,

Thank you for your reply however you may have missed my point and the information I am trying to obtain.

There is nothing I can see in that first link about any *definite* recommendations for Azure SQL Database, as it actually only mentions what the database compatibility Business Central can support.  And the second link doesn't provide any new information.

I am wanting to find out if people are using Azure SQL Database then what pricing tier did they choose: DTU or VCore?   And if vCore, then what level: Business Critical? Hyperscale?

And also if they have any database performance issues whilst using Azure SQL Database.

    Thanks

    SDC

    Hi SQLDataCloud !

There are no definite recommendations for this configuration. According to the Microsoft doc they advice you to adjust the Azure SQL tier in accordance with the performance you experience in your system.

The performance and thereby the recommendations will depend on your user pattern, transaction volume and database size. You can adjust the service tier on Azure SQL while in production until you find the level that gives you acceptable ratio between price and performance.

    Hi Inge,

    Thank you for your reply.

I am aware of what can be configured with BC and Azure SQL Database, my post was trying to find real world examples and experience of these applications working together.

It is not a "How to" question more of a "What did you do?"

    Cheers
